Effective date: 14 October 2026
This policy explains how the Android app Mic Blocker ("the app"), published by Zoopet ("we"), handles information. The app is a microphone blocker and guard: it keeps background apps off your microphone, alerts you when an app starts recording and checks installed apps against a list of known stalkerware. The app has no user accounts and we do not run any server for it.
When protection is on, the app opens the microphone inside a foreground service so that other apps running in the background receive silence. The audio buffer is never read for content, saved, analysed or transmitted, and it is released when protection stops.
Android tells the app when any app starts or stops recording, without saying which app. The app saves the time, the audio source type and, if you granted usage access, the name of the app that was in front at that moment. These entries are shown in the protection log and kept only on your device.
If you grant usage access, the app reads which app is currently in front. It uses this only to pause protection for apps on your allow list and to label microphone alerts. It is not stored beyond the log entries above and is never transmitted.
Spy Scan compares installed apps that Android makes visible to the app (apps with a launcher icon and a fixed list of known stalkerware package names) with a list of stalkerware package names and signing-certificate fingerprints bundled inside the app (Echap stalkerware-indicators, CC BY 4.0). The comparison runs entirely on your device. Your list of apps is never uploaded.
Your settings, allow list and optional PIN are stored in the app's private storage on your device. They are excluded from Android cloud backup and device-to-device transfer.
The app shows a protection notification, microphone-use alerts and a "tap to resume protection" reminder after a restart. These are created on the device; no push service is used.
Ads are served by Google AdMob. Before any ad is requested, Google's User Messaging Platform asks for your consent where the law requires it (for example in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland). AdMob may collect device identifiers such as the advertising ID, IP address, device and app information, and ad interactions to show, measure and personalise ads and to prevent fraud. See Google's Privacy Policy and How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services.
Unity Ads may compete to fill ad requests through AdMob mediation and may process similar device and ad-interaction data. See the Unity privacy policy.
"Remove ads" is a one-time purchase processed by Google Play Billing (Google Privacy Policy) or Samsung In-App Purchase (Samsung Privacy Policy). The app only learns whether the purchase is owned.
If you choose "Rate app", Google Play may show its review dialog. Reviews are handled by Google under its policies.
Log entries stay on your device until you delete them, clear the app's storage or uninstall the app. The number of stored reports is limited in Settings › Logging.
Data the app stores is kept in Android's private app storage, which other apps cannot read. Network connections made by the advertising and store services use encryption.
The app is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from them. Ads are requested as not child-directed and limited to a teen content rating.
Advertising and store providers may process data in countries other than yours under their own safeguards. Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR or US state privacy laws) you may have rights to access, delete or object to processing; use the consent options above or contact us.
We will update the effective date above when this policy changes. Significant changes will be noted in the app's release notes.
